Two Cebuanas make it to the 10 Finalists of the PLDT MYDSL WATCHPAD CREW

After a nationwide search that commenced in March and generated thousands of entries, the journey from anonymous to famous is on its homestretch as the top 10 finalists of the PLDT myDSL WatchPad Crew was unveiled online recently.
PLDT myDSL is not just looking for the usual eye-candy as the finalists were chosen based on their unique personalities, love for the internet, and a passion in life ranging from music, sports, the performing arts, and even advocacies relevant to today’s generation. Simply put, these are teens who want to stand out and make a difference.

Two Cebuanas have made it to the coveted circle of young, vibrant personalities from all over the country and with Cebu’s support may just become part of the coolest crew in town joining the ranks of Rhian Ramos, champion drifter Alex Perez, Isabel Oli, Gino de la Peña, Viktor Aliwalas and Steph Henares. The top five with the most online votes will have a chance to become a part of the 5 new  PLDTnew PLDT myDSL WatchPad Crew. Public online voting is open until May 23.

Carole “Blinky” de Leon, dubbed as “The Do-Gooder” is a junior in the University of San Carlos and a pioneer host of a well-renowned show. Bubbly 20 year-old Blinky, however busy she is, finds time for her interests. When she’s not in class or on cam, she spends her free time dancing, swimming, food-tripping and internet-surfing.  Blinky uses the net for entertainment and to communicate with her loved ones.


Dani Miranda dubbed “Dan The Man” is not your average girl. She’s cool, funny, strong-willed and can be considered “one of the boys”. A sophomore in the University of the Philippines Cebu, 19-year old Dani slows down from the stresses of school life by shopping, eating and cooking for her friends.  She also loves surfing the net especially to watch her favorite TV shows.

Rounding up the rest of the finalists are George Schulze, Mara Schnittka, Nikko Ramos, Goldameir Gamir, Arbie Baguios, Yassi Pressman, Paolo Villanueva and Jacqueline Milner.

The new WatchPad Crew will also each win a brand new Sony Vaio laptop with free myDSL subscription for a year, a chance to be part of WatchPad events, campaigns and ads and P100, 000 in cash. They will also participate in the Gabay Guro program of the PLDT-SMART Foundation, helping change lives of the teachers and equip them with English proficiency and computer literacy training.

PLDT MyDSL Speed Circuit 2010 Drifting Exhibition in Cebu

Smoke billowing, tires screeching as champion drifters made their mark on the road.

Cebuanos are once again presented with high-packed drifting action. Precision and speed at its best as PLDT MyDSL brings to Cebu “Speed Circuit 2010 Drifting Exhibition” held at SM City Cebu parking lot with no less than the 4-time drifting Champion Alex Perez with Gio Rodriguez and the lovely lady drifter, Pia Boren.

Drifting is a motor sport that originated in Japan when tires loses grip on the road and swerves. That’s when the precision and control of a professional drifter comes in which was clearly seen as drifters showed their jaw-dropping stunts, as they throw rings into the street cones, skid around the hosts and an amazing near collision stunts. Alex Perez gave basic drifting lesson and let some lucky Cebuanos experience the G and ride the drift cars with the champs.

According to Ms. Myla Villanueva, Senior Product Manager of PLDT myDSL,they incorporated drifting with their PLDT myDSL since it brings the sense of speed and the innovation relating to their DSL service. Drifting is non-traditional, unique and has an appeal to their target market – the hip, young and cool.
