RCTV Launches Season 2 of Tambayan Sa Outpost

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Cable station RCTV (Channel 36) is launching Season Two of latest hit music show Tambayan Sa Outpost, with Episode One airing on October 21 featuring Cebu’s premier blues band, Cuarenta (formerly known as 40 The Band).

The show features local music acts performing live @ The Outpost Restobar and each band member conversing with the host, Ms. Ria Redulla, about their personal thoughts on everyday topics. The maiden season, which is the first of its kind in Cebu, primarily featured rock bands performing in acoustic format, while the new season has a wider range, with blues, flamenco, ska, new wave, and pop music included in the roster.

“The show aims to portray the musicians as real people and not just the onstage personas they project,” said Jay Chiongbian Young, co-producer of the show, and an accomplished musician himself. “As the members talk not only about music, the audience will be able to relate to them on a different level as when they see them perform live.”

The show airs daily on Channel 36 in Sky Cable with the episodes running for two weeks each. For more info and updates, you may check out their website www.tambayansaoutpost.multiply.com or you can check out previous episodes from Season One on www.rctv.com.ph/shows/tambayan.

Halad Inasal Festival

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Roasted pigs dressed in scrub suit, riding a motorcycle, in a two piece bathing suit? Those were some of the scenes you’ll find in the annual Halad Inasal Festival in Talisay City, Cebu.

The Halad Inasal Festival, commenced with a parade of what they’re famous of – the Lechon or Inasal.
The scrumptious roasted pigs were paraded starting at Sta. Lucia, Bulacao going to Talisay Central School via the South Reclamation Project (SRP) route.

There were more than 20 participants who showcased their lechon, garbed in various themes depending on the participating company’s motif. Floats were adorned with lechon shaped breads, puso (hanging rice) and colorful flowers and balloons. Some floats were conceptualized as a lechon.

Aside from the inasal parade, a dance of colorful costumes filled the streets as participants of the street dance competition awed the audience with their enthusiasm and energy as they interpret the halad song.

This annual celebration is a thanksgiving for their patron saint, Sta. Teresa de Avila.

You can feel the passion and dedication that they have for the sport as they glide across the dance floor. Just like any sports, it was evident that dancesports requires discipline, physical fitness, and rigorous training. The participants endurance and stamina was clearly demonstrated throughout the competition.
