Cebu Business Month 2011 – Launching & Press Conference

Cebu‘s economic landscape has sustained the momentum of growth over the years. This year’s Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry launched it’s annual Cebu Business Month at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu Hotel last May 4, 2011. The industry hopes to push businesses to go beyond boundaries.

The CBM 2011 aims to inspire, educate and guide emerging and existing entrepreneurs in the development of their businesses, elevating them to the “next level” and beyond.

The event focuses on breakthroughs in ICT & BPO, Tourism and Entrepreneurship by organizing ICT & BPO conference, Expos, Seminars, to name a few, for the entire month of June.

The launching was attended by businessmen and prominent government officials, Mayor Mike Rama, Vice Mayor Joy Young and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale.

APL de AP Club Benefit Tour and Album Release Party to debut at LX, VUDU CEBU this Saturday

Beauty Health & Wellness Show 2010

Acknowledging that there is a growing awareness on health and wellness, Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industries had once again held a successful Grand Opening of the Beauty Health & Wellness Show 2010 at Ayala Center Cebu last Nov. 10, 2010.

This year, they partnered with the Wellness Organization Worldwide, Philippine Wellness and Spa Association and the Spa and Wellness Association of Cebu, aiming to promote healthy lifestyle not just for Cebuanos but the rest of the country and Asia.

The Cebu event gathered 44 exhibitors that will share their latest beauty products, wellness discoveries and latest innovation in beauty and wellness. Aside from that, Beauty Health Wellness Show 2010 offers a lot of activities such as healthy cuisine demos and contest, the wellness entrepreneurship seminar, spa management workshop and dance sport competition.

PACQUIAO and PLDT myDSL WatchPad: A Winning Tandem

Havaianas Design a Smile

What makes your kids smile?

Chances are, the answer to this question doesn’t involve the latest gadgets or vacations in far-away, exotic places. More often than not, it is the simple things in life that puts a smile on their faces: a happy Sunday morning breakfast, a hug from mom and dad or even the feel of fine sand under their feet at the beach.

Smiles are the truest expression of happiness. To commemorate Smile Month this October, Havaianas, the world’s favorite flip-flops, is launching the “Design a Smile” campaign to spread cheer and share thousands of smiles with Filipino children. Havaianas is creating a venue for children to heal the broken smiles of other children who have cleft lip and cleft palate deformities.

A series of design contests from October 16 to November 14, “Design a Smile” will give children the chance to show the world their artistic talents and, at the same time, create better futures for the children of Operation Smile, a non-profit, volunteer medical organization that provides reconstructive surgery and healthcare to kids with facial deformities.

Children from 5 to 12 years of age can participate in “Design a Smile” to lend their creativity for a greater cause. All they have to do is come to any of the events, which will be held in major malls nationwide, and design the sole of a Havaianas pair based on the theme, “What makes you smile?”  Prizes from Havaianas, My Masterpiece Movement, Polaroid, Faber-Castell, KidsSports, and Orange Juice await the winners.

The top winning entry will be produced by Havaianas in a future collection and will be sold nationwide for the benefit of Operation Smile.

So, this October, let your kids share their creativity and help heal the smiles of their fellow children.

World Dancesport Open Photo Contest

All amateur and professional photographers are called to join the World Dancesport Open Photo Contest where photo entries taken during the 2010 Cebu World DanceSport Open and 5th Dancesport Sa Sugbu on September 26, 2010 (Sunday) at the Pacific Grand Ballroom, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City are eligible for submission.

Official Entry forms are available at the Philippine Sports Commission Cebu City Office at the Cebu City Sports Complex, Jones Ave., Cebu City with Tel. No. +6332-254-7786 during office hours, Monday to Friday until September 24, 2010, and on-site at the Grand Ballroom Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, Lahug, Cebu City on September 26, 2010.

Organized by DanceSport Team Cebu City and Cebu Photoworks, the World Dancesport Open Photo Contest poses a challenge to photo hobbyists to capture fast moving subjects while bearing in mind certain themes.

Photo Contest Categories test the photographer’s skills as he captures images depicting “Elegance and Grace” where the image should capture beauty in movement or show seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement of the couple while performing; “Emotion” where an image showing a projection of any strong feeling, as of joy, sorrow, or elation, etc. of participant/s and/or spectator/s and guest/s; whether by an individual, a pair, a small group, large group or of the entire dance hall; and “Character” where the image should exude a certain quality or a characteristic property that defines the individual and/or couple from the rest.

DanceSport child, adult and juvenile athletes from all over the world and the entire country will be joining the competition. To date, we have participants from the Bulgaria, Turkey, Australia, Canada, Singapore, HongKong and Korea. More countries are expected to send in their entries. National athletes registered to date come from Metro Manila, Makati City, Pasay City, Pasig City, Baguio City, Tacurong, Sarangani, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, General Santos, Davao and Dumaguete.

DanceSport Secretariat Head and Publicist Ms. April Tudtud-Ramos said, “Taking pictures of DanceSport athletes twirling around the dance floor is so difficult. What’s more, a photographer has to catch the right moment when the perfect poses are made in a split-second. We call on photo enthusiasts to come and experience the thrill.”
