Travel : Malapascua

Cebu in Focus - MalapascuaIf white sand, and clear green-blue water is what you're craving for, then what the
"Unfortunate christmas" island has to offer is up for your taking.

Situated eight kilometers off the north coast of Cebu, the Malapascua Island which means "Unfortunate Christmas" boasts its shimmering long white sand beaches and panoramic rocky coastlines. The island is relatively small and covers less than 4 square kilometers making it enjoyable to ride a banca for a trip around the island, go diving at the wreck of a World War II sunken Japanese ship, go snorkelling among the fishes, or to simply just take a dip in the crystal clear water. After your water adventures, a stroll around the island gives you the opportunity to meet the friendly locals. You may also take a hike to the famous lighthouse for the spectacular view of the island, the deep blue ocean and watch the beautiful sunset over the horizon.

To make your stay even more comfortable, small inns along the beach are available at reasonable rates. You can also check out their dive shops, souvenir shops and bars & restaurants.

So if you simply want to get away and unwind for the weekend with your friends and family, pack-up and endure the three-hour bus ride from Cebu to Maya and a 45-minute banca ride to Malapascua.

You will never be sorry... for it's an experience truly worth remembering.

Can you add details on how to get there? Or vacation packages, or tours?

Take a taxi to the "Northbus Terminal" which is in the reclamation area where you
can find D'Rough Riders or the Cebu AutoBus (bus leaves every hour from 4am to
4pm). The ride from Cebu to Maya, a little town in the north of Cebu, and the jump
off point for the passenger boats to Malapascua island, takes about 3 or 4 hrs. Bus
fare is about Php100-150. Boat fare is around Php50. If it is low tide in Maya,
little boats or "boatie" will take you to the passenger boat for a fare of Php
10.00

Porters are very rampant in terminals so it is up to you if you have them carry your
bags for your convenience for a little amount of money. (Be careful though coz they
may overcharge you.)

Exotic Island Dive & Beach Resort offers great packages for a reasonable price. You
may email them at info@malapascua.net for more information.

Once youre there, dont miss the Maldito Bar & Restaurant.

beautiful place. I thought you can only find such place in Boracay or Bohol and
now I know my very own hometown has it too. Thank you for showing it to the
world. I would like to go there when I'll come to visit Cebu it's a must for
me!!!

if u want to go to malapascua, take a jeep or taxi that would go to the
north bus terminal, then at northbus, hop in ceres bus liner(its fare is just 60
pesos to maya,)ceres has a terminal too in maya, from the terminal, there are
many boats to malapascua, i think the fare for malapascua is only 20 pesos, so

Hi. We're taking a trip to Malapascua this summer. We haven't booked a
place yet. Read some blogs in other sites regarding the cons of different
resorts. Which one can you suggest. Can't wait! thanks! =)
