“DYNAMITE” FILMMAKERS IN CEBU TO LECTURE ON INDIE FILM PRODUCTION

Do you love movies? Do you want to learn more about filmmaking and maybe even
how to get your own film produced and distributed for the world to see? Then
consider this your big chance: the International Academy of Film & Television
proudly presents “From Grassroots to Dynamite: Making Your Movie without
Breaking the Bank,” a two-part seminar series presented in association with
Bigfoot Entertainment.

This is an exciting opportunity to personally meet Sean Covel and Chris “Doc”
Wyatt, the producers of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, as well as enjoy a screening of
their cult classic and ask them questions about the moviemaking process: how
to secure financing, managing on-set difficulties, finding a distributor for
the finished film, and all the other challenges of successfully producing an
independent film.

Join IAFT on Wednesday, February 15 at 6pm at Bigbucks Coffee (located on F.
Ramos Street) for a free forum with Sean and Chris as they discuss how to
translate ideas into feature films, along with suggestions on how to overcome
the many challenges independent moviemakers face. Then on Saturday, February
18 at 9:30am, make your way to Bigfoot’s new facility in Mactan (1 km before
the Mactan Shrine) for a special screening of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE. For only P50
you get VIP seats at the screening, followed by a discussion and
question-and-answer session with Sean and Chris. Seating is limited for both
events, so get there and register as early as possible.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE was an international hit in 2004 and remains one of the
highest grossing independent films of all time. Directed by Jared Hess and
starring Jon Heder, Diedrich Bader, Tina Majorino and Haylie Duff, the film
follows the title character as he deals with his nerdy brother, his overbearing
uncle and the cruel popular kids at school as he helps his new best friend
become elected student body president and in the process endears himself to his
classmates.

Internet Birthday Party

Internet Birthday Party

Newest gimmick in Cebu: Internet Bday Party

When Philip Florido celebrated his 9th birthday recently, her mother arranged for an internet party, and boy, did he and his friends have fun.

What is an internet party? Instead of the usual restaurant or burger houses, a birthday party is held in an internet cafe. In the case of Philip’s mother, she visited Jungle Rose which is becoming known as the most beautiful internet cafe in Cebu.

Philip and his friends had an exclusive party set in the ambience of the first and only jungle-themed internet cafe in the world. A party menu was served, and the exquisite water fountain in the middle of Jungle Rose provided a lovely home to the “Happy Birthday Philip” banner. The girls surfed the net while the boys played internet games against each other. Because of the jungle ambience, Philip’s party gifts consisted of wild animal stuffed toys.

Since Philip’s father is in California, his father was able to share the joy and happiness of his son. How? Jungle Rose used its own digital camera to take 100 photos and uploaded it to a blogspot while the party was going on, with no additional cost.

There were a few problems though: The girls could not stop drinking the bottomless hot chocolate, and the boys wouldn’t want to go home. After all, with unlimited drinks, unlimited internet, superfast DSL, sexy LCD monitors, supercool aircons, and cozy jungle ambience, who would want to end the party?
