Lexmark Bags PCCI  E3  Award

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. gave honor to Lexmark Int’l. (Phils.) Inc. for the E3 (Excellence in Ecology and Economy) Award for its most outstanding innovative environmental programs during the recently concluded 31st Philippine Business Conference & Exhibition (PBC & E) held at the Manila Hotel.

Lexmark was recognized for having been demonstrated innovative programs resulting to environment-friendly business operations and for taking an active role in the promotion of environmental consciousness, preservations and improvement initiative in the locality geared towards sustainable benefits not only to the company but to the community as well.

Awards Criteria includes Business and Environment Gains, Quality of Management that includes Leadership, governance and purpose, Resources, Management Process and Communication & dialogue. The Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. would like to congratulate Lexmark Int’l. (Phils.) Inc. for winning the E3 Award & also to Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. as one of the finalists during the awarding ceremonies were both member companies was being nominated by CCCI for the E3 award. Lexmark Int’l. (Phils.) Inc. was also awarded for Business Environment Award during the 2003 Grand Chamber Awards and at the same time recognized by CCCI in coordination with ECOP as the 3 Star Child Friendly Firm Awardee.

CHINA-ASEAN Expo Summit

To capitalize on the opportunities offered by the China-ASEAN market, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) of the DTI, and the Department of Tourism (DOT) are spearheading the participation of the Philippines in the 2nd China-Asean Business & Investment Summit on October 19 & 20, 2005 in Nanning, Guangxi, China. This event is meant to strengthen the framework Agreement on the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between China and ASEAN Countries for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Era (CAFTA) to be accomplished in 2010.

The Philippine Participation in China-ASEAN Expo Summit in Nanning, Guangxi, People’s Republic of China celebrates the long history of friendship between the two countries, reaffirming and reinforcing the ties that bind between them, and ultimately opening those ties as a way for a mutually favorable trade, tourism and investment partnership.

To promote economic cooperation and investments among the China-ASEAN countries, the Expo Secretariat will arrange an Investment Promotion Meeting for the Philippines and Cebu Province. Carrying the theme “ Philippines: Your Partner in Asia”, the Investment Promotion briefing for the Philippines & Cebu Province is scheduled on October 20, 2005 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. Other countries (China and ASEAN) will also have their promotion briefings within October 19-21, 2005.
Cebu will focus on its achievements in trade, tourism, investment, science and technology and cultural development. The following trade opportunities in Cebu would be highlighted: fresh and processed food; furniture; gift toys and house wares; fashion accessories; IT and IT-enabled services; high precision metal working products; services such as real estate, finance and trading & other products and services. The tourism display will capitalize on the familiarity of the Guangxi people with selected tourist spots in Cebu, with special focus on health, wellness and medical tourism.

Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines

Cebu Chamber of Commerce & Industry Officers are scheduled on a three-day Philippine Business Conference & Exposition (PBC & E) starting today until October 13 , 2005 at the Manila Hotel. The conference theme for this year, ONE. GLOBAL. FILIPINO. “Crossing Boundaries” recognizes the essential role that the business community plays in advancing enterprise competitiveness in an era of borderless trade.

A major highlight of PBC & E is the annual awards where CCCI is vying for the Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines. CCCI was recognized of its outstanding performance as an advocate of Philippine business & received the Hall of Fame Award in 1997 after being the Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines for two (2) consecutive years 1995-1996. On October 13, 2005 (Thursday), Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will conclude the Plenary to confer the awards.

The following CCCI officers who will participate the PBC & E are: Mr. Carlos Co, Mr. Jose Ng, Mr. Roberto Gothong, Mr. Ted Locson & Mr. Prudencio Gesta. This year’s conference also highlights opportunities that take advantage of the competitive edge of Philippine enterprises and its labor force. The conference will also touch on how technological tools can help business run better, as well as developments in the agricultural and manpower sectors.
