Minor revamp at CH to improve services
CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella has appointed Atty. John Jigo Dacua, former head of the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO), as the new officer-in-charge of the Department of Public Service (DPS) effective yesterday.
Dacua replaced Engineer Joel Biton who is now backed to his previous position as chief of the street lighting division of DPS.
Atty. Junine Aragones assumed the position vacated by Dacua at CCENRO while Irvin Cabales was designated as head of the garbage collection division at DPS.
“Well Engineer Biton has done a good job, but I want to improve it, I still need a better approach, a better skill, and a better cooperation,” said Labella.
“It cannot be denied that there are some areas in the city na limpyo na kaayo, thanks to Engineer Biton, but I wanted more,” he added.
Labella said he had observed a delay in the collection of garbage while going around the city early morning to inspect.
“Because I’m not just sitting down in the office, I go around even early morning, I go around and observe certain flaws or areas where we need improvement, and I think there is a need to improve in the collection of garbage,” said Labella.
Labella is expecting Dacua to address the delay in the collection of garbage. The mayor admitted that it is a challenge for Dacua to ensure the efficient collection of garbage, especially now that the Sinulog is coming and a huge volume of people are expected to come here.
“There will be minor movements to put people to work for a better result. You know movements of personnel especially department heads is necessary in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our people,” said Labella.
Labella is also urging the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) to deploy all its 700 personnel on the field and spread them around the city to man the traffic. FPL (FREEMAN)
