3 “performing” anti-drug cops at risk of dismissal

3 “performing” anti-drug cops at risk of dismissal

CEBU, Philippines — Another batch of policemen was subjected to a surprise drug test in Cebu City yesterday as part of the ongoing internal cleansing of the police organization few days after three anti-drug cops tested positive of illegal drug use.

Police Regional Office-7 director Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas earlier announced that three police officers assigned at Waterfront Police Station tested positive of illegal drugs last month.

The three policemen were identified as Police Corporals John Combis, Kinsman Omolan and Robert Amascual. They were part of the group of 61 cops who underwent the test last July 26 and 27.

Cebu City Police Office chief Police Colonel Gemma Vinluan said at least 57 policemen were included in yesterday’s new round of drug test. Vinluan said the three drug positive policemen will face investigation.

She said the three are members of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) of Waterfront Police Station 3 in Pier 1, Cebu City.

Police Major Jomar Pomarejos, Police Station 3 commander, said the three personnel are “performing” officers.

“They are performers in the police station,” Pomarejos told reporters.

But in spite of their sterling performance, they will have to face the consequences of their illegal actions as part of the organization’s internal cleansing.

“Because of our compliance in our ‘internal cleansing’ bisa’g kugihan ta sa atong trabaho, kugihan manakop, ug ang pulis musuyop, wala gihapon, the talk of credibility will be defeated,” Pomajeros stressed.

Meanwhile, the city police director announced yesterday that they have confiscated a total of P50.5 million worth of shabu in just one month of intensified anti-drug operations.

She vowed that more drug tests will come in the days to come to ensure that the credibility of the law enforcers is high.

Vinluan said.

Vinluan said she is planning to conduct a regular drug test either quarterly or twice a year to discourage PNP members from taking illegal drugs.
