Ma charged for beating son to death
CEBU, Philippines — Police filed yesterday a criminal complaint for parricide against a mother who knocked her 6-year-old son dead in San Remigio town last Sunday.
The suspect, whose name withheld by The Freeman, allegedly maltreated her son resulting in his death for refusing to take his medicine.
According to the Women and Children Protection Desk of San Remigio Police Station, the incident took place on December 27 but it was reported only on December 30 by the staff of the funeral parlor.
The investigation shows that the victim sustained hematomas, indicating he was maltreated before he died. The mother admitted hitting her son.
Cebu Provincial Police Office spokesperson and chief of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) Supt. Janette Rafter said they have already located the father of the child who will stand as complainant.
Rafter said the mother was not medically diagnosed to have mental disorder but she had history of aggression towards the child. (FREEMAN)
