CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña yesterday appointed Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella as acting mayor as he leaves for Japan for a personal trip.
Osmeña said he will be gone for five days.
“In the exigency of the public service and in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Code of the Philippines and all other existing laws, you are hereby designated as Acting Mayor of Cebu City from August 9 to August 13, 2017, or until my return,” read Osmeña’s designation order to Labella.
Osmeña said that he will fly to Japan for personal trip with his family and after that, he will be in Manila to follow up personal matters.
The mayor, however, did not give any specific directive to Labella.
The order states that Labella should “observe all the limitations of an acting mayor under the Local Government Code and existing laws, rules and regulations and jurisprudence.”
The copy of the order was also sent to all City Hall department heads and heads of special bodies and committees. (FREEMAN)
