THE world is not as safe as one thinks it is. An attack against someone can happen any time and anywhere. That is why it is important to learn how to defend oneself to protect oneself and keep safe at all times.
Like they say, “It is better to know the techniques and not need them, than need them and not know it.”
Israeli Defense Forces created a self-defense and combat system that was later on adapted for law enforcement and civilian use. This is called Krav Maga.
Krav Maga is a modern method in defensive tactics, characterized by logical thinking and a practical approach based on daily, common, natural and instinctive human behavior and moves. It concentrates on developing and providing specially designated self-defense solutions to match each sector’s needs such as for civilians, military and police, VIP protection and the like.
Krav Maga has been taught in Cebu since 2012 brought by engineer Chris Semilla and Ros Banson who contacted country director and regional director of International Krav Maga Foundation (IKMF) in Asia and expert level 2 instructor Dindo de Jesus to conduct a training in the province. Since then, IKMF-Cebu has been established with two instructors who passed the Civilian Instructor’s course last 2015.
According to coach Al Claro, IKMF-Cebu instructor, Krav Maga is a system one must acquire in order to transform one’s body into a weapon.
“I engaged myself with different forms of martial arts but for me Krav Maga is the most realistic and helpful self-defense system that can be applied in a real life situation. I encountered several incidents already but because of Krav Maga, I was able to defend myself,” he said.
It is never too late for one to learn this self-defense system. To join its regular training at Metro Sports Center, Lahug and Power Gym in Crown Regency Hotel, one can directly contact IKMF-Cebu at its Facebook page IKMF Cebu. IKMF-Cebu also offers special training and seminars.
Prepare for a demanding physical activity and be open-minded to learn new things in order to survive.
