OPERATIVES of the Cebu Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) caught a suspected big-time drug pusher in Barangay Canlumampao, Toledo City, Cebu at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 10.
Superintendent Joie Yape Jr., PIB chief, identified the suspect as Eduardo Tapilot Alicaba Jr., brother of Canlumampao Barangay Captain Danilo Alicaba.
The suspect’s father, Eduardo, and two sisters, Lorna Alicaba Batuto and Irene Alicaba Gerale, are also barangay councilors.
PIB will look into the liabilities of the barangay officials who failed to report their relative to the police.
Alicaba is one of the high-value targets of Cebu Provincial Police Office and an underling of a drug lord.
Operatives implemented the warrant of arrest issued by Toledo City Regional Trial Court Branch 29 Judge Reuben Altubar.
He is facing drug charges.
In a separate interview, Senior Inspector Nazareno Emia, PIB deputy chief, said Alicaba is known to be a tough guy in their community and a hitman.
The suspect was involved in several robbery incidents in the past.
He said the suspect often collected P500 per truck that carries sand and gravel extracted from Barangay Cambang-og, Toledo City.
Emia said residents thanked them for arresting the suspect.
The suspect denied the allegations, but he admitted collecting fees.
Personnel from the Regional Special Operations Group, Toledo City Police Station, and Philippine Army-47th Infantry Batallion also assisted in the operation. (SunStar Cebu)
